Abstract

The literature of Behavioral Therapies has approached in the last two decades the theoretical field of culture as a way to contemplate clinical processes involving cultural aspects. However, part of this theoretical field still lacks effective operationalization to deal with multicultural populations, especially in non-English-speaking contexts. This theoretical essay seeks to present the intersection between both fields from an analytical-behavioral perspective, providing support for the use of concepts such as cultural competence and cultural humility in the context of contextual behavioral therapies. A culturally expanded case formulation model of Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) will be presented as a way to expand the analysis of cultural variables in the scope.
